Social research skills are important in many jobs. College graduates with skills in social research and with social research software will find there are many employers, including many businesses and government agencies, looking for these skills.
Our Social Science Research minor is designed to give undergraduate students a chance to enhance their skills in research design and statistics. Students have the opportunity to do independent social research under the supervision of a faculty member.
A minor in Social Science Research requires 22 total credit hours.
Required Courses
SOCI 110 Introduction to Sociology (4 hours)
POL/SOCI 230 Introduction to Data Anaylsis (4 hours)
POL/SOCI 431 Research Design & Strategies (4 hours)
POL/SOCI 475 Data Analysis Lab (4 hours)
Students will also conduct independent research under the supervision of a faculty member. Electives include courses in market research geographic information systems and psychological measurement.
