Interdisciplinary approach
The Gerontology program at Alfred University offers an interdisciplinary approach to understanding the aging process and the new challenges society faces as the proportion of the population aged sixty-five or above steadily increases. Gerontology students study the psychological and sociological aspects of aging and explore political and biological issues as well.
Real-life experience
Both the major and minor in gerontology provide for the application of classroom knowledge to real-life situations through a supervised internship. Participating faculty members are drawn from the Psychology, Biology, Sociology and Political Science divisions.
