Performance opportunities and production options abound for students pursuing a theatre degree at Alfred University. You receive the benefits of a well-rounded liberal arts education, critical for any student of the theatre; a depth of study and a broad range of experiences in classes and production from which to draw upon as performing artists; a core of study in literature, performance and technical/design, with technical theatre courses configured to best meet a student's interests and goals; the opportunity to work closely with dedicated professors who are fine teachers, accomplished performers/artist, and scholars; the tools - ideas, techniques, rehearsal methods, and performance venues - to pursue a career or graduate study in the theatre arts.

All students, regardless of academic major, are enthusiastically encouraged to participate in the faculty and student-directed productions mounted each year. Students are involved in every aspect: acting, designing (costumes, make-up, sets, lighting, etc.), building sets, management and running crews.
The major includes a complete and comprehensive selection of courses with elective in music, dance, and related areas.
