Students interested in the Design/Tech area can choose their level of involvement, which can be anywhere from taking a design class to learn the basic tools to designing the sound, lighting, or scenery. Students have hands-on experience in the construction of all components of a production; hanging the lights, creating the sound mix, and building the set. Students learn the basics of construction in a fully equipped scenery shop. Students from these classes are frequently the running crew for productions, operating the light and soundboards and coordinating the interaction of front of house, back of house and the actors/dancers to create a smoothly run production.
A Design/Tech minor within our Theatre major program is being developed for students interested in deeper exploration of their talents in the area of Theatre Design or Theatre Technology.
