Whether you are pursuing an academic major or minor or are looking for a creative outlet, you have an opportunity to be involved with Performing Arts at Alfred. Participation in productions and performance groups is open to all students, regardless of academic major.

The Division of Performing Arts offers a major in theatre and minors in theatre, dance and music. We encourage you to participate in one or more disciplines, gaining exciting and valuable performance experiences in a wide variety of areas.

Alfred University has been tapped as one of the top creative colleges in the nation. Chamber Singers to present concert of show tunes in ‘Off Broadway’ concert
3/12/10 The Alfred University Chamber Singers will present a program of show tunes “Off Broadway,” on Friday, March 26 at 7:30 p.m. in Susan Howell Hall. Desserts will accompany the evening’s program; a cash bar will open at 7 p.m.

Visiting artist-in-residence to present ‘A Dance Narrative’ at Forum
3/04/10 Professor Robert K. Bingham, visiting artist-in- residence in dance at Alfred University, will present “Feeding the Ghosts: A Dance Narrative” on Thursday, March 18, during AU’s Bergren Forum, 12:10 p.m., in Nevins Theater, Powell Campus Center. This event is free of charge and open to public.

Student theater production team honored at 2010 regional Kennedy Center Festival
3/02/10 The Alfred University student theater production team received an “Honorable Mention Award” as runner-up to the “Golden Hand Truck Award” at this year’s Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF) 2010 hosted at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. The award is given to the team with the safest and most expedient load-in and load-out.
