Pi Mu Epsilon, Inc (PME)
Pi Mu Epsilon is the Honorary National Mathematics
Society. It was founded on May 25, 1914 at Syracuse
University and currently has over 300 chapters
at colleges and universities throughout the United
States. The purpose of PME is the promotion of
scholarly activity in mathematics among the students
in academic institutions. The Alfred University
Chapter of Pi Mu Epsilon was chartered April 28,
2002 and sponsors the Problem of the Month Competition.
The AU Math Club: "We do math so you don't have to..."
The AU Math Club is a recognized AU student organization
and holds three meetings each semester. Typically these meetings are held during the lunch hour with faculty and students making presentations.
Recent talks featured fractals, decision making, and the Banach-Tarski Paradox.
