College of Liberal Arts and Sciences
First Year Experience - Peer Leader Program

Each FYE seminar will have a Peer Leader to assist students with both academic and non-academic issues.

The Peer Leaders are upper-class students who will support the FYE faculty and be mentors for the seminar participants. They act as role models for first-year students, and they help teach the value of a liberal arts and sciences education at Alfred University.

The Peer Leaders will assist with many of the FYE activities by leading discussions, researching best academic practices, and providing a student perspective to the class on strategies for skills such as test-taking, discussion skills and time management.

The Peer Leaders are selected by the instructor and have proven records of success at Alfred University. They work with and have the opportunity to not only assist the students, but learn about curriculum development, teaching strategies, and leadership skills.
