Professor Gaze is a charter member of the National Numeracy Network and a member of the Mathematical Association of America. He participates in the university’s Honors Program, having taught courses such as “Zen in the Art of Chess” and “The Tao of Physics.” His research interests include numeracy, mathematical pedagogy, geometry, relativity, algebra, and tiling; and Professor Gaze is the author of several publications. He is also faculty advisor for Pi Mu Epsilon, the national mathematics honor society. He is a chess player and a farmer raising alpacas.
