The Chemistry Division's minor not only provides breadth of study (14-15 credits), but also enables students to tailor their studies to complement a major in other fields (5-6 additional credits). For example, a biology major might emphasize organic chemistry whereas a person in ceramic science might focus on inorganic chemistry.

Minor Requirements

CHEM 105-106 General Chemistry I and II
CHEM 315 or CHEM 310 (prerequisite CHEM 106)
CHEM 343 Physical Chemistry I (prerequisite CHEM 106, MATH 152, PHYS 112 or 126)

Plus 5-6 additional credits for a grand total of at least 20 credits chosen from CHEM 316, CHEM 321, CHEM 345, CHEM 346, CHEM 370, CHEM 372, CHEM 374, CHEM 423.

Liberal Arts and Sciences Chemistry majors must take CHEM 343/346 but Ceramic Engineering and Materials Science majors who minor in Chemistry may take CEMS 235 (in lieu of CHEM 343) and both CEMS 214, and 344 in lieu of CHEM 346.
